Plainfield is nationally recognized as a major logistics and distribution center with more than 25,000,000 square feet of industrial and distribution space. Planning and Zoning have approved an additional 1000 acres that is currently under development. More than 100 companies including Eli Lilly, Becton Dickinson, Espon, Puritan Bennett and Foxconn occupy this space providing hundreds of jobs.

Plainfield is also the corporate home of Bright Point, PSI/Duke Energy, TKO Graphix, Banning Engineering and Fundex. Many other companies have local offices as well.

Plainfield has a diversified retail sector anchored by Metropolis, a regional lifestyle mall, providing hundreds of part-time and full-time employment opportunities.

Along with the private sector employment opportunities, public sector employment opportunities are provided by the Town of Plainfield, The Plainfield School Corporation, and The Indiana Department of Corrections.
